About the Competition
The International Judgment Writing Competition 2025 (IJWC 2025), organized by Record of Law in collaboration with the Malaysian Law Students’ Network (MLSN), invites law students, researchers, and legal professionals from across the world to participate in a prestigious global event.
This competition provides participants with an opportunity to step into the shoes of a judge and draft a reasoned judgment based on a case rooted in International Law. Participants will analyze facts, interpret laws, and deliver judgments reflecting fairness, logic, and judicial precision.
The aim of IJWC 2025 is to enhance judicial reasoning, analytical skills, and legal writing abilities while promoting global legal collaboration and cross-border learning.
Objectives

Encourage excellence in judgment drafting and judicial reasoning.

Foster understanding of international legal principles and dispute resolution.

Provide a global platform for law students and young professionals.

Promote research-based writing and critical legal analysis.
Eligibility

Open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students.

Individual participation only.

Researchers and early-career legal professionals are also eligible.

Judgment Problem
The Judgment Problem, based on International Law, will be released on 1st November 2025.
Registered participants will receive the problem statement and official format/structure via email on the day of release.
Participants will be required to draft a judgment as if presiding over an international court.
